Saunders: It’s time ‘to make fundamental change’

WASHINGTON — AFSCME President Lee Saunders issued the following statement after Senate passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022:

“Working families have been asking Congress to address rising prices and climate change, to lower skyrocketing prescription drug costs, to hold the wealthy and corporations accountable – to make fundamental change. Senators have finally answered that call by passing legislation that will do exactly that. Recent Treasury secretaries and economists of all backgrounds agree: the Inflation Reduction Act will strengthen our economy, alleviate the burden working families have been shouldering, and invest in a healthier, better and brighter future for generations to follow. Now it’s time for the House to follow suit. Let's get this legislation to President Biden’s desk.”
