AFSCME President on Trump Administration DACA Deadline PassingWashington, D.C. —
AFSCME President Lee Saunders issued the following statement after the Trump Administration’s arbitrary March 5 deadline passed, ending protections for DACA recipients:
“It is time for real leadership from the White House and Congress to enact a permanent and compassionate solution for our nation’s DREAMers.
“The Administration’s arbitrary deadline to end DACA has now expired. Meanwhile, their continued silence and inaction threatens to tear families apart, destabilize our communities and keep DREAMers in a shadow economy that drives wages down for everyone. We urge Congress and the White House to get serious about a permanent solution and make a concerted effort to pass the DREAM Act.”
