Public Access to Government Information in Electronic Format

WHEREAS:

AFSCME has traditionally upheld the principle of free speech and free access to information; and

WHEREAS:

Access to government information is one of the hallmarks of a free society.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME supports the access to government information provided to all citizens through the Federal Depository Library System and strongly urges that no-fee public access to government information should continue through use of electronic and online database information systems by depository libraries.
