On the Record: Resilience

When the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 last year, the CEOs and big corporations who orchestrated that case thought they had working people like us on the ropes. Pundits were beginning to write our obituary.

Not so fast.

AFSCME members have stared down this challenge and emerged with renewed strength. We have stuck with their union; overall union public approval ratings are high; and there’s a new narrative recognizing unions as a vital force in American communities.
