Sean Grayson was elected by acclamation to serve as the sixth president of AFSCME Ohio Council 8. Grayson is a cum laude graduate of the Ohio State University and the University of Toledo College of Law, and he is a graduate of the Harvard Trade Union Program. He began his legal career as an associate legal counsel with the firm of Gallon, Kalniz and Irorio, in Toledo, Ohio, representing private and public sector unions and their members. At AFSCME Ohio Council 8, he began as an assistant general counsel in 1988 and later held the positions of associate general counsel and Columbus regional director. In 1996, Grayson was appointed general counsel of AFSCME Ohio Council 8, a position he held for twenty-three years. He is the chairman of the Ohio AFSCME Care Plan and the Ohio AFSCME Legal Services Plan, and he serves as a vice president of the Ohio AFL-CIO.
