Elected to his second term as CSEA Local 1000 Capital Region President in 2020, Briggs has been an activist for over 25 years. In 1994, Briggs started his career in Fulton County, working in the Department of Social Services as a Child Protective Worker. After 12 years in children services, Briggs transferred and became a Probation Officer, the title he still holds today.

Briggs served as Executive Vice President of CSEA Capital Region for twelve years. He also served one term as 1st Vice President. Briggs continues to work toward building an inclusive and responsive region.

Briggs is involved in numerous CSEA committees and initiatives. He is a Leadership Education and Development Program (LEAD) program graduate. Before joining CSEA, Briggs was a member of UUP for eight years.

Being an active part of the community is important to Briggs. To that end, he is Chair of the Gloversville Community Development Agency, President of the Fulton County Children’s Committee and a volunteer at Mohawk Harvest which is a co-operative focused on bringing local products to the marketplace. Briggs resides in Gloversville.
