Dave Henderson, a third-generation AFSCME member who has been with our union for 41 years, has served as executive director of AFSCME Council 13 since early 2021. His parents were members of AFSCME and his grandmother was the inaugural recording secretary of the District Council 84 Executive Board in Pittsburgh. Dave was a member of Local 1955, working as a corrections officer with mentally challenged inmates. He held all positions within the local, up to and including president, over the 19+ years he worked there. Dave began his career with AFSCME as a staff representative for DC 84 on November 16, 1998, and became the director of District Council 85, located in Northwest Pennsylvania, on April 1, 2009.
