San Diego, CA

WHEREAS:

            The various correction department employees need to be informed about problems and solutions as they happen around the Nation and elsewhere; and

WHEREAS:

            This continually growing occupation is faced with daily violence and other stressful situations; and

WHEREAS:

            Up to date gang activity information should be shared with all ACU members as it happens; and

WHEREAS:

            Communication and camaraderie are elements which will keep us strong and informed.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

            That AFSCME Corrections United with the assistance of AFSCME International resources be charged with the production and publication of a nation­wide quarterly newsletter; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

            That this newsletter be a forum for ACU members to communicate through a "letters to the editor" column and various up to date information on gangs, solutions, proactive union activity and other pertinent information; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED:

            That this newsletter be distributed to all AFSCME Corrections United affiliate locals.
